So you ask, "What's the difference in commercial and handmade soap?" Most manufacturers of commercial soap remove the naturally occurring glycerin that forms in the soap making process and sell it as a by product.
This soap is made with activated charcoal* for ultimate cleansing power. Activated charcoal is pure carbon specially processed to make it highly absorbent of particles. It is made by heating the charcoal to 900˚C, driving off all the material that obstructs the pores of ordinary charcoal. It is a fine, black powder that is odorless, tasteless and nontoxic.
In skincare it is used to absorb excess oils and impurities, neutralize poisons and toxins from the skin’s surface and serves as an exfoliator.

The need for soap in Haiti is great. Without handwashing, the broken sewers, plumbing and toilets in Haiti will lead to diarrhea-related bacterial infections and lead to 5 million deaths annually. Like other soapmakers, we are helping Haiti victims by donating soap to Clean the World, a non-profit organization that provides much needed soap to the third world.
